Artist’s message
I created ONCE because I wanted a different kind of digital space — something simple, lasting, and shared.
For a long time I have wanted to make something that moved against the usual grain of digital life. So much online asks us to repeat ourselves, perform ourselves, and leave endless fragments behind. I wanted to make a work that did the opposite: one decision, one colour, one trace, and the feeling that this could be enough.
What matters to me is that this work depends on other people. Each mark stays distinct, but becomes part of something larger that no one person could make alone. That is where its meaning lives for me: in relation, in presence, and in the quiet fact of having chosen to be here.
ONCE belongs to a wider series — JOURNEY, GROW, RELEASE, and ECHO — and one of the deepest feelings in making this work real is that it has opened the others with it. These works come from years of thought and feeling, and from a desire to create art that recognises the quieter parts of being human: private longings, personal change, and the inner movements that are often deeply felt but rarely given space without judgement.
